18 month stats

Allie went to the pediatrician on Monday for her 18 month well baby check up, and all is well! She is growing perfectly, right on her growth curve: Weight 24.5 pounds (50th %ile), Length 32 inches (75th%ile) and head circumfrence 19.5 inches (>95th%ile). Big head, a little taller than average and smack-dab in the middle for weight. Hopefully she will grow into her head a little bit! She is using it to her advantage though, as leverage to climb up on the couch and using her brain to be smarter than average!!

She had to receive 3 shots (seasonal flu, DTaP, and polio) and we are waiting until her 2 year check up to give the last Hep A vaccine. On that note, we are finding a new pediatrician. We have learned about Dr Sears alternative vaccine schedule and would like to follow that plan someday with kid #2. I asked our pediatrician about it and she pretty much went off on Dr Sears saying it is extremely dangerous, and they do not allow parents in their practice to follow that method. So that was my cue that we need to find another doctor. We just don't see eye to eye on that and other more natural methods of treating illness. So I will be asking my like-minded friends here in Colorado for a referral to a different doctor. It probably means we will have to drive a little further, to Boulder (lots of au natural there) or into Denver. But it's worth the drive to see a doctor that we agree with and that will listen to my opinion and desires for how to treat my children!!

OK off my soap box!
